How to Make Your Website Multilingual

Turning your website into a bilingual or multilingual site allows you to reach a broader audience. The website builder makes it easy to add translations, either manually or automatically.

1. Enabling Multilingual Support

  1. Open the CMS Dashboard.
  2. Go to Project Settings.
  3. Click on Translate in the top toolbar.

Language Limits

  • Free Version: Supports one extra language.
  • Pro Version: Supports multiple languages.

2. Setting Up Your Website’s Languages

Choose Your Original Language

  • Select the language your site is currently written in (e.g., English).

Add a New Language

  • Click Add Language and select a translation language (e.g., Swedish).
  • Choose whether the translation should be public (visible) or remain private while editing.

Enable Auto-Translation (Pro Feature)

  • If using the Pro Version, enable Auto-Translate to automatically generate translations.
  • If using the Free Version, translations must be entered manually.

Enable Auto-Switch (Optional)

  • This setting detects the user’s browser language and automatically loads the correct version of your site.

Click Add Translation to apply the settings.

3. Adding a Language Switcher to Your Website

A language switcher allows visitors to select their preferred language.

  1. Open the Elements Drawer on the left.
  2. Locate the Translation Element.
  3. Drag it into your header, footer, or another visible section.
  4. Save your changes (Ctrl + S / Command + S).

Now, visitors can switch languages using the language selector.

4. Previewing and Editing Translations

Preview the Page

  • Switch between languages using the language switcher.
  • Auto-translations will appear instantly.

Manually Edit Translations

  • Open CMS > Pages.
  • Select a page and click Translate from the top toolbar.
  • Edit any incorrect or unclear translations.

Updating Media for Different Languages

  • By default, images and media are shared across all languages.
  • To use different images per language, upload them manually in the translation settings.

5. Making the Language Selector Global

  • To display the language switcher on all pages:
  1. Select the language switcher element.
  2. Click Make It Global in the settings.
  • To detach it from the header and make it a floating button:
  1. Select the language switcher.
  2. Open Settings > Styling > Position.
  3. Set it to Fixed and adjust its placement.

Now, the language selector will remain visible even when users scroll.

6. Adding More Languages

  • Go to CMS > Project Settings > Translate.
  • Click Add Language and follow the same steps to add a third, fourth, or more languages.

With these steps, you can easily create a multilingual website and ensure a seamless experience for visitors in different regions.
