How to Embed PayPal Into Your Website

In this Netjet tutorial, we’ll guide you through the process of embedding PayPal into your website so you can accept payments, donations, or subscriptions seamlessly.

Step 1: Create a PayPal Business Account

Before embedding PayPal, you need to set up a PayPal Business Account:

  1. Go to PayPal’s website.
  2. Sign up for a business account (if you haven’t already).
  3. Fill in all required details.

Step 2: Access PayPal Developer Mode

  1. Log in to your PayPal Business Account.
  2. Find the Developer button in the top right corner and click it.
  3. You will see a switch in the top right with two options:
  • Sandbox Mode (for testing transactions).
  • Live Mode (for real transactions).
  1. For testing, select Sandbox Mode.

Step 3: Add the PayPal Element to Your Website

  1. Open your Netjet website builder.
  2. Open the Elements Tab on the left side.
  3. Scroll down to PayPal under the Content section.
  4. Click, drag, and drop the PayPal button where you want it on your page.

Step 4: Configure Your PayPal Button

  1. Click the PayPal button you just added.
  2. Click the PayPal symbol on the popup menu.
  3. Choose the transaction type:
  • Checkout (for product purchases).
  • Donation (for charities or fundraising).
  • Subscription (for recurring payments).
  1. Enter your product name and SKU (if applicable).
  2. If using subscriptions, set the billing cycle and duration.
  3. Click on Amount and enter the price of the item.
  4. Make sure you are still in Sandbox Mode for testing.

Step 5: Link Your PayPal Account Using the API Key

  1. Click the blue plug icon to link your PayPal account.
  2. PayPal will ask for an API Key.
  3. To find your API Key:
  • Ensure you are still in Sandbox Mode in PayPal.
  • Under Testing Tools, click Sandbox Accounts.
  • Your testing API key will appear—copy it.
  1. Go back to your Netjet PayPal settings.
  2. Click the blue plug, paste the API Key, and click Connect.

Step 6: Test Your PayPal Button

  1. Update your website in Netjet.
  2. Click the preview button (small box with an arrow).
  3. Copy the page URL.
  4. Open an incognito window in your browser.
  5. Paste the URL and go to your page.
  6. Click the PayPal button.
  7. You should be redirected to a checkout page displaying the price and an option to sign in to PayPal or pay as a guest.
  8. If everything works, proceed to Live Mode.

Step 7: Switch to Live Mode

  1. Go back to your Netjet website builder.
  2. Click the PayPal button and open the PayPal popup.
  3. In the settings, turn off Sandbox Mode.
  4. Go to PayPal Developer Mode and switch from Sandbox Mode to Live Mode (top right corner).
  5. Click on your PayPal button again.
  6. Click the blue plug but this time, instead of using an API Key, enter the email associated with your PayPal Business account.
  7. Click Connect.

Step 8: Final Test and Deployment

  1. Update your website in Netjet.
  2. Click Preview Mode again.
  3. Copy your page URL and open it in incognito mode.
  4. Click the PayPal button—you should be redirected to a live PayPal checkout page.
  5. If the checkout page appears correctly, your PayPal integration is now live and ready to accept payments
