How to Add a Comments Section to Your Website

Adding a comments section to your website encourages visitor engagement and interaction. You can integrate Facebook Comments or Disqus to allow users to leave feedback on blog posts, articles, or any page. Follow this step-by-step guide to set up and customize the comments element.

1. Adding the Comments Element

Step 1: Insert the Comments Element

  1. Open your website builder.
  2. Go to Add Elements → Scroll to Social.
  3. Select Comments, then drag and drop it onto your page.

By default, the element loads Facebook Comments.

2. Setting Up Facebook Comments

Step 2: Configure Facebook Comments

  1. Click on the Comments element to open settings.
  2. Ensure the Comments Provider is set to Facebook.
  3. Choose the Number of Comments to display (default is 10).
  4. Under Link to Page, select:
  • Current Page – The comments will be linked to the page they are left on.
  • Custom Page – Enter a URL if you want the comments associated with a different page.
  1. Save & Preview your page to see how the comments appear.

How It Works:

  • Users must be logged into Facebook to leave a comment.
  • The comments sync with Facebook, so they persist across visits.
  • Visitors can reply to each other, like, and share comments.

3. Setting Up Disqus Comments

Step 3: Configure Disqus Comments

  1. Click on the Comments element to open settings.
  2. Change the Comments Provider to Disqus.
  3. Enter your Disqus Shortname (from your Disqus account settings).
  4. Choose between:
  • Current Page – Links comments to this specific page.
  • Custom Page – Links comments to a different URL.
  1. Save & Preview to see the Disqus comment section live.

How It Works:

  • Visitors can sign in with Disqus, Google, or social accounts.
  • The Disqus dashboard allows comment moderation and spam filtering.
  • Users can vote, reply, and engage with threaded discussions.

4. Customizing the Comments Section

Step 4: Adjust Styling & Layout

  • Click on the Comments element and go to Settings (top-right corner).
  • Adjust width and height to fit your page layout.
  • Customize background color, borders, and alignment.
  • Under Effects, enable animation or scroll effects for a dynamic appearance.

5. Optimizing for Mobile & Tablet

Step 5: Ensure Responsiveness

  • Go to Tablet View and Mobile View in your editor.
  • Adjust the width of the comments section to fit smaller screens.
  • Facebook and Disqus are automatically responsive, but minor layout tweaks may be needed.

6. Why Add a Comments Section?

  • Boosts Engagement – Encourages visitor interaction and discussion.
  • Increases Time on Page – Users stay longer when engaging in conversations.
  • SEO Benefits – New comments keep the page updated with fresh content.
  • Social Proof – Visitors see others engaging and are more likely to participate.

By following these steps, you can seamlessly integrate Facebook or Disqus comments into your website, creating an interactive and engaging user experience.
